The Challenge
A US-based EV startup was developing a light utility vehicle targeting emerging markets. Their aluminum battery enclosure was too heavy, too expensive at scale, and prone to corrosion in tropical climates. They needed a CFRP alternative that could pass UNECE R100 crash safety requirements and be producible at 2,000 units/year.
Our Solution
YASHENG FRP developed a high-volume SMC compression molded battery tray using flame-retardant epoxy prepreg. The design integrated crash-energy-absorption zones and threaded aluminum inserts for pack mounting. We provided full FEM structural analysis, DIN rail integration, and passed IEC 62660 thermal abuse testing on the first prototype batch.
